Goodbye Bremerton
Goodbye, and Good riddance, Bremerton. Don’t get me wrong, the people were uniformly nice, and the views of the water are gorgeous. But I crave food that tastes good. And something else to do besides go to the mall.
Yarrrrrrgh.
Tomorrow I escape to Port Townsend, which conjures up memories of going there with [...]

Oh! mikey.
I’m watching Oh! Mikey, something that I watched while I was back in Japan. In fact, there was a travelling exhibit in Osaka all aobut it.
I’ve been back since last Sunday, but things have been busy like all crazy, between trying to get over jet lag and catching up on my work at the [...]

Farewell Kaua’i
Well, I bade Kaua’i a sad farewell, 30 hours after I stepped foot outside of its airport. I only had a few hours to myself, but I made the most of it, hiking around and enjoying the beautiful views from my hotel.
The students and high school counselors, as to be expected, were gracious, welcoming, [...]

The Garden Isle
Well, here I am, sitting next to the beach, blogging away. I bid AMC adieu and pushed on ahead to Kauai. Since Kauai is supposed to be amazing, I did some hiking around Keahua Arboretum in my giant SUV (Ford Trailblazer).
I even got to drive it through a stream on my way to the park. [...]

It’s Aloha Friday (no work till Monday)
I heard this on the radio at 6:50 in the morning while I was driving to one of my high schools. I laughed on the inside, as there’s no rest for the tireless efforts of the admissions counselor.
I’ve been overwhelmed with how friendly all of the high school counselors have been. I’ve been well taken [...]

Video Clip
Well, I’ve been visiting schools and interviewing, and it’s been fantastic. Lots of kids to talk to, it’s beautiful driving around and seeing parts of Hawaii that are off the beaten path. Some schools are rich and posh, some much more humble. Still, the kids are all great to interact with. [...]

Hawaii, Day Three (or, Ouch! I have a sunburn)
Aloha All,
Well, my Labor Day is coming to a close, and I feel great, apart from my sunburn. AMC and I ventured to North Shore this morning, after a bit of a late start. The drive was gorgeous, and I can say that I like Oahu a lot better after exploring the North Shore and [...]

On the Road, Again.
Well, I’m sitting in my condo in Waikiki, and I’m glad I’m here. After planning, packing, and swearing since May, I’m finally hear on Oahu, ready to start fall travel.
Getting here was largely uneventful, apart from oversleeping this morning and making my taxi wait for me (while charging me, of course).
I’m staying at a fairly [...]
